Our Foundation
Our goal is to activate Whakapaumahara marae as a place of strong whānau and community pride for the present and future generations. We aim to provide a modern and safe marae facility that will help enable the strengthening of whānaungatanga (relationships), enhancing hapori / community spirit, and cultural wellbeing.
Our aspiration is to for Whakapaumahara to be a leading place to hold a range of cultural and community activities (tangihanga, unveilings, wānanga, hui and celebrations). It is to be a focal gathering point for the hapū – Te Whānau Whero, Te Akitai, Ngāti Rehua; the hapori/community of Whananaki and manuhiri.
